Leisure activities at Montagenet

Quite often, people visiting Montagenet for the very first time want to know about the leisure activities on offer here: are there castles, museums, caves and sport centres in the region which keep the kids occupied and the adults entertained?

Then the visitors arrive and more often than not they spend most of their time on the estate. There is no time to get bored as everything is here…

When the weather is fine, which is often the case throughout the year, you can go on long strolls taking in the varied and charming countryside covering the estate’s 76 hectares: meadows, fields, forests, streams, gardens and a park which children will be able to transform into play areas.

If you so desire, you can collect some botanical specimens and view some of the 2000 species of plants, trees and shrubs which have been planted over the last seven years.

For walkers, the Saint-Martin-le-Pin 13 km marked hiker’s track which passes through the hamlet. For the more energetic, the GR4 - 436 and 36 is close by.

You will probably come across a herd of sheep which graze there along the way and with a little bit of luck you may also see some deer, stags and other animals which take refuge on the estate (since it is forbidden to hunt).

You can also enjoy the pleasures of fishing in the fish pond which covers an area of one hectare, located below the village or on the Bandiat, a first rate river which borders the estate to the west.

Several tables have been installed along the pond and petanque areas for your aperitifs and picnics.

The facilities found on the estate will enable you to:

• go swimming, in the heated but unsupervised 14 m pool (from April to October),
• ping-pong,
• table football, in the games room, located between the swimming pool and the gym,
• petanque, basketball and badminton, in the areas situated at the top of the hamlet.

If you wish to either maintain or get back to fitness then fully equipped facilities (reserved for those of 12 years old and over) are at your disposal :

• gym, equipped with several pieces of gym and weight lifting equipment,
• spa,
• hammam,
• traditional and infra-red sauna,
• solarium.

Upon appointment, you can have massages and beauty treatment in the massage parlor.

Otherwise, the equipment in each house, consisting of WiFi and televisions, means that contact with the outside world can be maintained whilst playing games (video games and board games*), listening to music (Hi-Fi), reading (books*) or watching films (DVD players with more than 1,000 DVD*).
